Here's a quick test to determine whether you are an alkaline or acidic type.
Do you:
Have thick, strong bones and muscles?
Enjoy lemon or vinegar without stomach upset?
Tend to be a high-energy person?
Feel energized after a meal of meat?
Have healthy digestion and immune function?
Have a tendency to put on weight?
If so, you are likely to be an alkaline type. White meats and fish—in no more than four-ounce portions-several times a week or even every day, as well as fresh fruit, vinegar, olives, and olive oil (basically the Mediterranean diet) are good for you and will energize you. When alkaline types try to eat a vegetarian diet, they find themselves feeling depleted and cranky.

You will have more energy if you stick to a largely vegetarian diet of fresh, whole foods including whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and more alkaline fruits like papaya and melons, plus cold-water fish like tuna or salmon two or three times each month, and small amounts of raw seeds and nuts. This diet helps balance your body's acidic state. The majority of American women are highly acidic-primarily due to the standard American diet. Adjusting your diet to better suit your needs will not only flood your body with much-needed nutrients, but will also bring you a renewed sense of energy and vitality, Proteins are broken down into amino acids, complex carbohyddrates become simple sugars, and fates are turned into fatty acids. For these conversions to occur, food is acted on by stomac acid, hormones, pancreatic enzymes, and fat emulsifiers, then reabsorbed from your digestive tract through your blood and circulated to your cells. If your already drained of energy, foods that add to your acid load and requires a great deal of energy just to break down add no value.
